Founded in 1977, ESILL is a non-profit organization offering a variety of educational programs to residents and seasonal visitors of Baldwin and Mobile Counties. We present Winter-Spring, Summer and Fall terms, with courses priced at just $4.50 per class hour. (Some courses carry additional supply fees, which are reflected in the course descriptions in the Catalogue published for each term). ESILL courses are intended for the enjoyment and self-enrichment of its students, with an emphasis on fun. There is no pressure - no examinations, grades, "homework" or other requirements. Students are asked to bring interest, enthusiasm, a willingness to participate and an open mind. ESILL classes are not just lectures and demonstrations; the class environment is based mostly on discussion, an exchange of ideas and information and enrichment of experience and knowledge. Simply click on the Classes link above to see what the offerings are for the upcoming term.
We are supported by The Friends of ESILL, a group made up of interested persons who believe in ESILL's mission and are willing to contribute a modest annual membership fee in the pursuit of "School for the Fun of it". Members are invited to two educational/social events each year, receive a discount on their registration fee for any courses they or their immediate family members take, receive catalogues mailed to their home and other benefits. If you might be interested in getting on the ESILL team, please click on the Friends of ESILL link above.
